About Us

Welcome to Moorland Primary School and Nursery. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and find out more about our wonderful school.

My name is Sarah Jones, and I am incredibly proud to be the Executive Headteacher of Moorland Primary School. Moorland is a warm, vibrant and inclusive school where our children are at the heart of everything we do. We have a committed staff team, fantastic children and families, and a community with a strong sense of belonging.

Our vision is simple:

Together We Can

We believe that every child can succeed when they feel safe, valued and understood and when they are provided with high-quality teaching, clear expectations and the right support to thrive.

Moorland provides education for children from 3 to 11 years old, beginning with our purpose-built Nursery. From the very start of their journey with us, we want children to be curious, confident and excited about learning. Our Early Years provision provides children with rich opportunities to learn through purposeful play, exploration and carefully planned experiences, building the strong foundations they need for the next stage of their education.
Across school, we are ambitious for every child. We provide a broad, engaging and inclusive curriculum which develops children's knowledge and skills while encouraging them to become increasingly independent and resilient learners.
At the heart of Moorland are our RESPECT values:
R – Resilience
E – Empathy
S – Self-Awareness
P – Passion
E – Equity
C – Communication
T – Teamwork
These values describe the qualities we want to develop in our children and the culture we want to create across our whole school community. They help children understand what it means to be part of Moorland and underpin our belief that Together We Can achieve more.
We are proud to be an inclusive school. Every child is unique and brings different strengths, experiences and needs. We work hard to remove barriers to learning and provide the support and opportunities children need to participate, achieve and feel that they belong. Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on children's personal development, wellbeing and their ability to build positive relationships with others.
Our relationship with families is an important part of this. We want parents and carers to feel welcomed, listened to and involved in their child's education. We also work closely with our local community, Family Centres and external professionals so that children and families can access additional support when they need it.
As Executive Headteacher, my ambition is for Moorland to be a school where there are high expectations for everyone, where children receive consistently strong teaching and where every member of our community feels proud to belong.
A website can only ever give you a glimpse of what makes a school special, so I warmly invite you to come and visit us. We would be delighted to welcome you to Moorland and show you our school in action. Come and explore "through the keyhole" of our school.
